The forests of Kletsk Forestry Institution are unevenly scattered across the administrative districts. The northern part of the Institution is covered by small spots of forest among the agricultural lands whereas the southern section is a thick woodland with small spots of agricultural lands.
Natural Environment and Climate
By forest type, the Forestry Institution is located in the zone of mixed coniferous-broad leaved forests, subzone of hornbeam-oak spruce forests, in the area of Neman and Predpolesie. The forestry districts of Gorodeika, Nesvizh, Novinki and Golynka belong to Volovyssk and Novogrudok woodland complex, district of Zaostrovechye and Kolki – to the Western Predpolesie complex.
By basic thermal and humidity indicators, the territory of Kletsk Forestry Institution is close to the average level of the Republic of Belarus.
The territory is dominated by sod-podzolic soils. Those soils have the highest natural fertility among podzolic soils and are covered by highly productive plantation.
Transport Network
The area of the Forestry Institution has a well-developed transport network and is crossed by the standard-gauge railway Moscow-Brest and Baranovichi-Osipovichi.
General-purpose motorways run in various directions, most essential of them are the motorways Moscow-Brest, Slutsk-Ivatsevichi, Baranovichi-Osipovichi, Nesvizh-Novogrudok.
The area of the Forestry Institution has a wide network of local roads. The length of transport thoroughfare per 1000 hectares of woodland is 24.9 km.
The forest reserves run by Kletsk Forestry Institution as of 1 January 2010 comprise 38,316 hectares, including the woodland of 33,966 hectares.
The Class 1 forests occupy 7.3 thousand hectares, Class 2 forests – 31.0 thousand hectares.
